It could be argued that Christian Alston was always kind of a strange guy. Growing up, his father disappeared on him and his mother just before his eighth birthday and his mother had to make a lot of sacrifices to make their home work. Still, Christian didn't hold it against her like some children might as they got older and instead he became quite attached to her. Under-socialized due to her busy schedule, he was generally seen as the "weird" kid in school who often wore the same clothing for days on end and was kind of smelly.

As he got older, that persona did not improve until somewhere between high school and college where his lack of fashion sense suddenly became the hip way to be and an odd sort of popularity was thrust upon him for his trendsetting "hipster" ways. Despite his discomfort with said popularity, he certainly didn't mind reaping the benefits it brought with it - attention from ladies being the biggest thing.

Several years and a handful of girlfriends later, he'd learned to run with what he'd been given and outward awkward behavior gave way to slick charm and lived-in clothing gave way to trendier pieces usually picked for him by others. Maybe it hadn't happened as quickly as it had for others, but in the years of college and beyond Christian had really managed to find himself. And that was all he ever really needed.
